Why visit Curaçao Rif Mangrove Park?
Curaçao Rif Mangrove Park is an urban nature park of roughly 12 hectares in Otrobanda, between the cruise area and the resorts west of central Willemstad. The eastern basin, about 6 hectares, is the section currently in use for visitors. The park opened on July 1, 2022 and is managed by the Carmabi Foundation.
Mangroves are much more than trees standing in water. They provide food and shelter, act as nursery habitat for young marine animals and help protect the coastline. Seeing this ecosystem in the middle of the city gives you a very different view of Curaçao from its beaches and colourful downtown streets.

The park contains three mangrove species: black, white and red mangrove, together with buttonwood and other vegetation. The root systems, shallow water and sheltered areas attract a mix of wildlife. This is a natural ecosystem rather than a zoo, so specific sightings are never guaranteed.

Opening hours, prices & one useful late-afternoon note
The park is open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The official opening-hours page currently says last entry is 4:30 PM, while the FAQ still says no entry after 4:00 PM. If you are visiting late, arriving before 4:00 PM is the safest plan and checking the official site that day is sensible.

Practical tips for a better visit
For the boardwalk alone, around one hour is a useful planning baseline. Stay longer if you enjoy birdwatching or photography. If you add a kayak tour and still want to walk afterward, allow closer to 1.5–2 hours overall.
Morning is comfortable if you prefer cooler walking and want to keep the rest of the day for Willemstad.
Water, sun protection, comfortable shoes and optional insect repellent are useful.
