Why visit Playa Lagun?
Playa Lagun feels completely different from the broad sands of Grote Knip or Cas Abao. Rocky walls frame the cove and small fishing boats are often pulled up near the water. This is not a luxury beach-club day; come for the intimate setting, underwater life and quiet west-coast feel.
Swimming and snorkeling
For snorkeling, Playa Lagun is one of Curaçao’s easiest choices. Walk straight in from the beach and follow the rocky edges. Fish are common and sea turtles are sometimes seen. Keep your distance from wildlife and never touch coral.
With children
The sheltered shape makes Playa Lagun appealing for families, especially when children already enjoy a mask and snorkel. With very young children, still assess conditions on the day and organize enough shade.
Practical tips
Go in the morning if snorkeling is your priority. Water shoes are useful for sensitive feet, and give local fishing boats plenty of room. Because the bay is small it can feel busy more quickly than a large beach.

Continue from Playa Lagun to Kleine Knip, Grote Knip or Westpunt. An early snorkel here followed by a swim at Grote Knip makes an excellent west-coast day.

How long should you stay?
Two or three hours is enough for a swim and a relaxed look around. Allow half a day if you want to snorkel, have lunch or settle into the beach properly. Playa Lagun can be combined with nearby stops, but avoid turning the west coast into a checklist. Driving, parking, changing and swimming all take longer than the map suggests.
